Dr. Michael Berglass, DDS — Founder and Lead Dentist

Dr. Michael Berglass, DDS, is the founder and lead clinician at West Palm Beach Family Dental. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in 1996, then completed a one-year general practice residency, followed by a one-year dental implant fellowship, at North Shore–Long Island Jewish Hospital in Manhasset, New York. He has practiced dentistry continuously for over 25 years.

Academic Background

Dr. Berglass was born in the Bronx, New York, in 1968. He completed his undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Binghamton before entering the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his DDS in 1996.

Stony Brook’s dental program, established in 1973 within the State University of New York system, is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and consistently ranked among the top dental schools in the northeastern United States.

Residency and Implant Fellowship

After graduating from Stony Brook, Dr. Berglass completed a one-year general practice residency at North Shore–Long Island Jewish Hospital in Manhasset, NY.

That hospital-based program exposed him to complex oral surgery, trauma care, treatment of medically compromised patients, and interdisciplinary case management — clinical scenarios that private-practice-only dentists rarely encounter during training.

He then completed a one-year dental implant fellowship at the same institution. A dental implant fellowship is a structured, post-doctoral training program focused exclusively on surgical implant placement, bone grafting, abutment selection, prosthetic design, and long-term occlusal management.

During his fellowship year, Dr. Berglass trained on single-tooth implants, multiple-tooth cases, and full-arch restorations under the direct supervision of board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgery faculty.

The American Dental Association reports that fewer than 6% of practicing general dentists hold post-doctoral fellowship training specifically in implant surgery.

That distinction is the difference between a dentist who learned implant placement through weekend continuing-education seminars and one who spent a dedicated year in a hospital-based surgical environment performing implant procedures daily under faculty oversight.

25 Years of Private Practice Across Three States

Dr. Berglass has owned and operated private dental practices continuously since completing his fellowship training. His career spans three states and three independently owned practices:

Practice LocationDurationYears
Port Washington, Long Island, New York10 years~1998–2008
Charlotte, North Carolina13 years~2008–2021
West Palm Beach, Florida (current)2021–present4+ years

Each practice was independently owned and operated — Dr. Berglass has never worked for a dental service organization (DSO) or corporate chain.

That career-long independence means his treatment recommendations have never been influenced by production quotas, corporate revenue targets, or third-party management directives.

In-House CBCT 3D Imaging and AI-Guided Surgical Planning

West Palm Beach Family Dental performs CBCT scanning and AI-guided implant planning in-office at the same appointment — no external referral required. Machine-learning software maps bone density, nerve pathways, and sinus depth from each CBCT scan, then generates a custom 3D-printed surgical guide that locks drill trajectory to the planned path with sub-millimeter precision.

Dr. Berglass provides advanced local anesthesia with a gentle, paced technique for patients with dental anxiety. The practice coordinates with trusted outside providers for nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or IV sedation when deeper sedation is clinically appropriate.

Professional Memberships and Continuing Education

Dr. Berglass holds active memberships in the American Dental Association and the Florida Dental Association. He completes continuing education through annual ADA and FDA conferences covering implant dentistry, restorative materials, and digital diagnostics.

Full-Scope Restorative and Surgical Services

Dr. Berglass performs dental implants (single-tooth, multiple-tooth, and All-on-4 full-arch restorations), crowns and bridges, tooth extractions, including wisdom teeth, cosmetic dentistry, root canal therapy, Invisalign, general dentistry, and gum disease treatment

His fellowship training covers every phase of implant treatment — 3D imaging through surgical placement to final prosthetic seating — in one office, without referring patients to outside surgeons or prosthodontists.

Transparent Pricing and Patient-First Treatment Planning

West Palm Beach Family Dental does not overdiagnose or upsell elective procedures. Every patient receives a written treatment plan with itemized fees before any work begins.

The Florida Board of Dentistry requires written cost estimates before treatment — this practice exceeds that standard by offering free consultations and second opinions, including necessary X-rays at no charge.

Dr. Ivan Cedeno, DMD — Associate Dentist

Dr. Ivan Cedeno, DMD, is the associate dentist at West Palm Beach Family Dental. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in Cuba. Subsequently, he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine, earning full licensure to practice dentistry in the United States.

Education and Training Background

Dr. Cedeno completed his initial dental education in Cuba, graduating with a DDS, and joined a family with a multi-generational tradition of dental care professionals. After several years of clinical practice in Cuba, he relocated to the United States to continue his professional development.

Before entering the University of Puerto Rico dental program, Dr. Cedeno worked as a dental laboratory technician. This role gave him direct, hands-on experience fabricating crowns, bridges, implant prosthetics, and other restorations.

That laboratory background is a meaningful clinical differentiator. Most dentists design restorations on paper or screen and send specifications to an outside lab. Dr. Cedeno has built those restorations himself.

He understands material behavior under occlusal stress, marginal fit tolerances at the micron level, and how a prosthetic will perform over the long term in a patient’s mouth — knowledge that the dental school curriculum alone does not fully provide.

He subsequently completed his DMD at the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine, an institution accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. That degree granted Dr. Cedeno full licensure to practice in the United States and all U.S. territories.

Professional Memberships

Dr. Cedeno holds active memberships in three professional organizations:

OrganizationScope
American Dental Association (ADA)National — clinical standards, continuing education, ethical guidelines
Florida Dental Association (FDA)State — Florida-specific licensure, advocacy, practice standards
Dental Medical Association International (DMAI) — South Florida ChapterRegional — interdisciplinary collaboration, South Florida professional network

He maintains continuing education through annual ADA and FDA meetings to stay current with advances in restorative dentistry, digital diagnostics, and implant prosthetics.

Restorative and Prosthetic Focus Areas

Dr. Cedeno specializes in procedures where prosthetic precision matters most — crowns and bridges, cosmetic dentistry (veneers, bonding, and smile design), root canal therapy, and general dentistry

His lab-trained understanding of crown margins, occlusal surfaces, and substructure material behavior under chewing force translates directly into tighter prosthetic fit and longer restoration lifespan.

Dr. Cedeno walks each patient through the clinical rationale behind every recommendation — what the problem is, what the options are, and what each option costs — before beginning any procedure.

He explains findings in plain language and does not proceed until the patient fully understands and approves the treatment plan.
